On June 28th, 2009—just three days after his passing—thousands gathered under the Eiffel Tower in Paris to celebrate the life and music of Michael Jackson. Everyone crowded around a few very talented moonwalkers as DJs spun Jackson classics and remixes. The energy was amazing; an incredible tribute to an incredible musician.
There were tons of journalists on the ground, so I decided to go up and see what I could get. I’m very glad I did. I feel this image exemplifies the power that Jackson’s music has to unify and excite people, even in sadder times.
In honor of Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009)
